Jonathan Bailey is more of a sentimental man these days.
And as the Wicked star explained at the movie's Los Angeles premiere Nov. 9, his experience working on the magical film has truly come full circle.
"It was just so present in my childhood and my family," Jonathan told Justin Sylvester and Zuri Hall on the red carpet at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the original production. "And I remember watching with my grandparents. And so, I'm really excited to get to London and get home and to watch it with my 93-year-old grandma."
But as Jonathan explained, the film may be already be popular with the youngest of his loved ones too. "I've already seen it with the next generation," he noted. "I saw it with a niece in Sydney."
The 36-year-old—who costars in the film alongside Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater and more—previously gushed over landing the role and the impact it had on him moving forward.

"The preparation started when I listened to the soundtrack when I was like 15. And I remember viscerally; it sent ripples through culture. Also, I remember hearing the orchestration. I hadn’t really heard the synth-meets-full-orchestra-meets-syncopation."
As he noted, "Something about it just completely grabbed me. My best friend from school, me and him went to go and see it together—we were soulmates through school. And it was so funny that, like, two lads just went with it. I think the themes of Wicked have probably expanded, and that’s what I’m really excited about with the film."
It's a project that simply went above and beyond his wildest dreams.
"There were certain elements of it that I was incredibly impressed by," he explained, "and I think that is because of the love and care of Marc Platt and Jon Chu. Obviously we’ve grown up loving theater and musical theater, I always felt attached to that wonderment. I think my expectation might have been that somehow in the making of something, you lose that. But we were on those incredible sets."
Wicked debuts in theaters Nov. 22.
